Scouting America at St. Patrick is designed for young men ages 11–18 (or those who have completed 5th grade). Through skill-building, camping, leadership opportunities, and rank advancement — culminating in the Eagle Scout rank — Scouts experience adventure, friendship, and personal growth.
Adult Volunteers
Troop 949 thrives because of committed adult leaders. Whether you’re interested in serving as a Scoutmaster, Committee Member, Merit Badge Counselor, or helping with camping trips and events, we welcome your involvement.
Training is available, and no prior Scouting experience is required. Volunteering is a meaningful way to support youth while growing personally as a “Scouter.”
About Troop 949
Founded in 2009 as an extension of Pack 949, Troop 949 has grown from a single patrol to multiple patrols and approximately 15 Scouts. The Troop follows the traditional Patrol Method, empowering young men to lead, teach skills, and take increasing responsibility as they advance.
Meetings: 2-3 per month
Activities: Camping, hiking, service projects, merit badge advancement
Campouts: 6–8 per year, including district events and a week-long summer camp
Focus: Leadership development, outdoor adventure, personal responsibility, and living out the Scout Oath and Law
Troop 949 emphasizes character development rooted in the mission of the Boy Scouts of America:
“To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.”
These items help families prepare for the year:
Troop Dues: $TBD annually (includes national membership fee)
Campouts: Generally $20 per person for food + small site fees
Summer Camp: Approx. $445 (or cost set by selected camp)
Uniform: Class A shirt required; shorts, belt, and socks recommended. Gently used uniforms may be available.
The Troop participates in several fundraisers each year to help offset costs and support the Scouting program.
